This Is My Life

Frog and I were discussing our New Years Resolutions. Not easy when you’re only 5 months old to understand the concept of a new year or to decide what it is you wish to change / work on / make better. But she’s decided that the following may just be resolutions she’s willing to follow through with:

In the words of Frog:

• Get off my bottom and get moving! There is so much to see in the world, why waste time lying around?
• Wean myself off boob juice. Ah difficult one, but there comes a time in every girls life where she needs to experience the joys of food. First butternut, then chicken, then chocolate!!
• Express myself a little more clearly. The adult creatures don’t really seem to understand me all the time. That said they are teaching me sign language, must practice more.
• See more of the world. Of course, I am only going to Luxembourg, France (flying business class of course!), Canada and the USA next year. There must be more to see.
•  Enlarge my artistic repertoire – from hand and foot prints to award winning / money making / mommy pleasing pieces of art. Must get hold of paint in a colour other than green. Mommy’s red lipstick might do nicely…

we spent yesterday transforming a patch in our front garden that originally looked like this (patch on right side of photo):

we added the wall a little while ago:

removed dead rose bushes and weeds:

and added a water feature, some rosemary and wild garlic (apparenlty a natural snake repellant)

Actually wasn’t too bad getting her foot print. Getting her to open her hand was something else….

 Here’s wishing all a happy festive season, and a 2008 filled with love, light and laughter!

PS no frog’s were hurt in the taking of those photos. She did demand compensation for her time though and artistic input…

To make Frog soup, you need a large pot, some onions, green peppers, a bottle of good red wine (very important as Frog soup may have a bitter edge if a cheap wine is used) and one 6kg Frog. Preferably pre-stuff the Frog with an onion before popping in the pot, but its quality is not affected if the Frog is stuffed once in the pot. Some people do pre-stuff with milk.

Simmer on low heat until juice no longer runs out milky but Frog is still plump and tender.

Enjoy with a sprinkling of fresh parsley and freshly baked bread.

Frog fell asleep underneath her baby gym… her 4 legged octopus still clutched in her hand.

We have bugs. and more bugs. and even more bugs. Spiders with babies all over their backs. Flies that seem resistant to most fly traps / sprays. Cockroaches. But with all of the icky ones… we also have the most beautiful creatures. I suppose you can’t have the one without the other…

This little guy went darker and darker when hubby picked him up and moved him to the safety of a vine…then went bright green again. Turning bright with happiness to be safe away from dogs / cats?
